Bremer River sediment investigation

Alluvium conducted a detailed investigation of sediment sources in the Bremer River catchment to support targeted sediment and water quality management and guide stakeholder-informed prioritisation of erosion control actions.

The Bremer River is a key tributary of the Brisbane River and plays an important role in regional water quality and ecosystem health. The lower Bremer, particularly through Ipswich City, is prone to erosion and sedimentation, with implications for downstream environments including Moreton Bay.

To support improved sediment and water quality management, Alluvium conducted a comprehensive investigation of sediment sources across the catchment. This included aerial imagery and LiDAR analysis, field-based geomorphic assessments, and sediment monitoring during flow events.
We developed sub-catchment summaries highlighting erosion processes and environmental values and collaborated with stakeholders to identify and prioritise management actions.
