Technical support to the FAO Asia Pacific Water Scarcity Programme

The FAO Regional Water Scarcity Program (WSP) aims to enhance food and water security across the Indo-Pacific. Alluvium, funded by the Australian Water Partnership (AWP), supported Phase 1 by establishing National Multi-disciplinary Teams (NMTs) to develop Water Scarcity Action Plans (WSAPs) and leading Water Accounting Roadmaps in Viet Nam, Thailand, and Indonesia.

Under the program, Alluvium is supporting establishment of Multi-disciplinary Teams (NMTs) within government to develop Water Scarcity Action Plans (WSAPs). Alluvium is also leading the development of Water Accounting Roadmaps in Viet Nam, Thailand and Indonesia. Under this project, Alluvium also supported FAO in providing guidance on the application of the established methodology for developing water scarcity profiles in five new countries (Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand and Australia); and then consolidates the 10 water scarcity profiles into a regional publication on the status of water scarcity and its management in the Asia-Pacific. The process and outputs support FAO’s preparation and development of a regional WSP; and strengthen emerging FAO-Australia partnerships to assist with the management of scarcity in the Asia-Pacific region.
